I designed this book as a designer at Mitchell Digital. It was authored by Rosemary Manarin as a biographical collection of her travels around the world.
“All in the Journey” is a book that showcases stories and vintage photographs. I selected a typeface pairing that is great for legibility in print and has a feeling of being classical using modern type. The header typefaces have some small unique attributes, while the paragraph selection is a classical styled serif made great for reading.
Although the images in this book were limited in resolution for our typical print standards, their vintage aesthetic allows us to accept the speckles and the scratches as a nostalgic touch of history. This is evident in the cover of the book that showcases image of Rosemary across the front, back and spine. The image is overlayed with a vibrant orange gradient to bring the feeling of life and energy.
