Overview
As the in-house graphic designer at Mitchell Digital, I designed this commemorative cookbook for Vancouver College’s Mothers’ Christmas Tea.
The book brings together recipes submitted by Vancouver College families and staff, creating a keepsake that reflects the school community and its traditions.
Design approach
The client supplied photographs of the completed recipes, which I edited to create a more cohesive look throughout the book. Children’s drawings were also scanned and vectorized, allowing their illustrations to be incorporated into the layouts as playful decorative elements.
The interior uses Vancouver College’s colour palette, with clearly styled sections and informational pages to make the recipes easy to navigate and read.
Cover design
I created a colourful custom pattern for the cover that complements the school colours and the warm, celebratory character of the project. The design carries through the book, bringing the varied recipes, photography and illustrations together as one cohesive collection.
Outcome
The final cookbook was digitally printed and perfect bound at Mitchell Press. The client was delighted with the finished book, which became both a practical collection of recipes and a meaningful keepsake for the Vancouver College community.
